Creative Direction

In the Fall of 2023, I served as the President and Creative Director of an RSO at the University of Illinois called The Collective Magazine. In this role, I oversaw all of the teams in the magazine, including Event Planning, Multimedia, Writing, and (mainly) Graphic Design, leading critiques and planning weekly meetings. For Issue 13: TRANSGRESSION, I drew heavyily for the inspiration from the 1970s punk movement to create a creative direction, style guide, and mood board for the magazine and cover (designed by Victoria Jimenez).

Article Design

For this magazine issue, I also designed one of the Feature Articles. My main focus was on the methodology of 1970s punk graphic design. I created each spread by printing out black and white text and images on printer paper; cutting them out and arranging them on physical pages, adding bits of masking tape and ink doodles, embracing any imperfections; then, scanning in the spreads and editing them using Adobe Photoshop.

Merch Design

Throughout the semester, the graphic design team creates all merch, including posters, social media posts, and semester shirts. These selected posters were each created by me for house show promotions to advertise our events as well as informational fliers to be posted inside of the venues. The main goal was to maintain cohesivity with the overall creative identity while pushing the limits in order to make it work with the theme of each event. The banner (below) was printed on a 5 ft piece of vinyl and was used as the back drop for a show.
